Conspiracy theories are as American as apple pie or crippling student loans. Seemingly rational individuals are, it turns out, able to hold completely irrational beliefs that can be remarkably resistant to objective reality. We never really landed on the moon. [science_finding_i_don’t_like] is just a scam so scientists can get more grant money. Aliens live in a base underneath Denver International Airport. Psychologists (possibly under orders from a shadowy cabal of New World Order officials and cyborg Pharma executives) suggest that a combination of cynicism and a feeling of powerlessness in the face of events, combined with a little added low self worth, makes the most fertile minds for conspiracy theories to take root in.

I love reading about conspiracy theories, especially the ones from out of the blue.

When I recently set up Peter's Cycling Blog, I set it up as a subdomain of LarsonsWorld with it's own Drupal install. For a few days I was totally thrown for a loop by one simple difference in the installs.

With LarsonsWorld, on a Drupal story, page or block, I found I could always use 'image-folder/image.jpg' without having to use the complete URL and the image showed everywhere. When I set up Peter's Cycling Blog I found this didn't work. Yes, it worked on the PCB homepage, but once you started going into the website hierarchy, the image didn't show. Thus, with PCB, I started using complete image URLs.

Since LW uses Drupal 6.22 and PCB uses 6.28, I figured this was the reason. Or, it was a subdomain. Or, I was doing something wrong. Or, something.

Nope.

I originally installed Drupal on LW in late 2010. At that time, the PHP used by my host, Hostgator, couldn't use the 'Clean URLs' option in Drupal. So, '?q=node/' was used by default. When I installed Drupal into the subdomain this past month, the PHP had been updated and 'Clean URLs' could be used and '/node/' was set as the default.

This creates a very interesting change in how everything is referenced. Once you start using 'Clean URLs' your website has a real hierarchy and is no longer based on the '?q=node' database, or whatever it is. Once I unselected 'Clear URLs' on PCB, all my images started showing on all pages.

Maybe I'm old school. LarsonsWorld is 11 years old now and I've had a website of some kind since 2000. In the early days, it was faster to reference images in folders rather than using the full URL. Looking back at my hand coded pages, there where many that had image sources like '../../../folder/image' so the pages would load faster. I'm use to it.

Or maybe, I rather enjoy not having to type the whole URL or figuring out how many folders down the hierarchy an image is.

I'm going with a combination of both.

I have Peter's Cycling Blog up and running. I will be using this for anything and everything cycling from now on. Not much content as of yet, but I will be adding more all the time.

Avalanche Hire Patrick Roy As New Coach -- ESPN

The Colorado Avalanche are rounding up the old crew to restore the downtrodden franchise.

First, Joe Sakic was given more responsibility in the front office.

And now Hall of Fame goalie Patrick Roy is rejoining the Avs as head coach.

Roy will join forces with Sakic, who was recently promoted to executive vice president of hockey operations. The Avalanche won two Stanley Cup titles with the duo on the ice and the organization is hoping they can help turn around a struggling franchise.

This could be interesting and I may even get back into follwoing hockey depending out how things play out. It has been quite a while since I followed hockey. After the second strike, I pretty much bailed and have had no interest in what is going on in the NHL.

Is the Pistol Formation Coming to Denver Broncos Offense? -- The Bleacher Report

he Denver Broncos have strict media regulations when it comes to photography of their practice sessions, especially in regard to formations and player personnel. But when it comes to photos released by the team—photos that can be accessed by every other team in the NFL—it’s a different story.

On Tuesday, the Broncos uploaded the photo seen at the top of this article as the cover photo of their Facebook page (Update: the photo was removed shortly after this article was published). Nothing to see here, right?
